I did.nt use syn-oil till well after the bike was run in....and I think some people have the wrong I dea about syn...no you dont use it so you can leave it in longer..you change it just as often as you would normally...ie. @ the specified oil service changes recommended in the service manuel.
Regarding the old 20/50 oil..well at least something is better than nothing  but todays Harley engines are built to a closer tolerance, they dont slop about like an old russian Kalashnikov(ak-47) any more :!:

okeeeeeeeey! Have been doing somee research for you..it is possible..am a member on another forum and will pass on this information..hope it helps...

Greetings, the oil pressure gauge on the link is for an evo engine, it works good, and can be seen if you have an evo engine, if you have a twin cam engine you will not be able to view it, harley has a good gauge with a mount, about $79.00. Most people use a different hose than the one in the kit because it is plastic.
This a picture of mine on a 2005 dyna

Yessssss I know it's not a temp gauge...it's an oil pressure gauge..but it's a gauge and you like them

    or try this link http://www.jerzeecustoms.com/HDOilTrimKitTCBlk.htm

Can't you run your bike without a front fender in Germany???Kan man nicht mit oben ohne in Deutschland fahren

Give us your best-----odder so

I have also done a search for a oil temperature guage in analogue(suits a SB better than luminous digital) for the poster of this thread..even on other Dyna forums but seems there is'nt much of a choice.Anyway why cover your bike with guages?A speedo is all you need  ...just fill it with synthetic oil and ride on :D

God I hate these efi and electronic fuel management stuff on our bikes today..when they run they're ok but when not..shit hits the fan!Not as easy to work out,,,I can't offer any solutions..just keep my fingers crossed it's not anything drastic,be interesting to know the problem once you have worked it out...

I've heard that the Dunlop tire supplied by Harley is a really soft compound..good for grip but lasts about one riding season  Will find out this summer myself..How do you like the feel of it?Is it a good gripper on the road and when fitted does it look good?

    Zitat von Hajo

That´s true, after drillig the holes I used a small high speed driller with a round stone head a little bit like dentists equipment.
I dont know if you know the trade mark Dremel. Its simular but cheeper. And to be save I have used selfshrinking hosepipes. So I hope there will be no problems.

    Hey Hajo 8)8):D:D

Yea I know the Dremel..just an idea  You could have maybe made one larger oval hole, easier to feed the cables??
Thanks again for the post :)
    Regards Rick

I hate the rear indicators being anywhere other than where they are on the SB but wanted saddlebags for touring too, decided on just having the leather post bag type on one side and has the rear of the bag angled so the indicators did'nt need moving.Only have these two pictures at the moment but can post some closer pictures of the fittings etc in about a week when my bike comes back from the painter. The bag is easy to take off and on(2 minute job) and holds enough for a weekends camping.

Dank fuer die post..interesting. After cutting the holes in the bottom of the handlebars did you file it smooth? Can test with cotton wool if there is any sharp edges  .. a short out there is all you need on a cold damp night while out riding your Bob..

Witzig?

    Thanks Uli :D

If it's put on properly it lasts a long time but usually just used on the downpipes not on the whole exhaust unless the silencer is the same diameter. Not all aftermarket pipes come with heat shields, you don't really need them unless your in the habit of roasting your leg but thats why there's leather boots for motorcycles :)

    Zitat von spritigonzales

    Heisann bikebandit,

 Hey just seems like the guy just wants to have a proper motorcycle sound but from what I've read everyones to frightened to even fart on the roads over there because of the police  ...have'nt they got better things to do than check the exhaust of every motorcycle???Can't go to prison just because a bikes a few Db over the top or?Just pay the fine if they get you and ride on bro'.....

    Zitat von uli

Besorg Dir doch einfach nen zweiten originalen offenen (klappengesteuerten) Dämpfer.

Just buy V&H slip-ons if you want a cheap option with good performance and sound..keep the originals for TUV...you can't have your cake without eating it..go on,be a rebel..F*ck the police and what they do..it's only a fine haha!

    Zitat von sn5

    Hi bikebandit,

haha! just wanted to see what people were getting to a tank..was easier with the XL1200R Sportster I had as there was a reserve switch.

    Zitat von SBseineFrau

3 languages in one sentence   My warning lamp beams at 180-200 km (K&N, PC III, AMC Exhaust) but there`s still Gas for 100-120 km in the tank. The fuel watch isn`t very accurat.

    Greets
    Achim

Thats about the same as me..just did'nt know how far I could go after the low fuel lamp comes on..thanks..hey people you can answer in German if you want as I can understand 8)

I would be interested to know how far other SB riders get before seriously looking around for a petrol station? Mine is not standard, running V&H Big Radius,SE airfilter and Race-tuner and my safety margin is 200km..is that average with members here or good/bad?? Thanks for your answers beforehand
    Regards Rick

If you change to a performance exhaust and free flow airfilter on a carb motorcycle you have to change needles and jets to suit...if you do the same on an injection you have to re-map...and HD says you must use the Racetuner..I'm sure thats from 2008 models??

    Zitat von saugy

    :?

    SE Race tuner = Gut
    Powercommander = Scheisse

    Beides = Quatsch ... :!::!:

I did say it was a very rough translation...all I know is my SB runs now perfectly with the Racetuner but it did'nt with the powercommander PLUS HD WILL void warranty if theres problems and you have a PC..please yourself what you use... I did

I had a powercommander fitted to my O7 SB as well as V&H Big Radius and SE airfilter from new from an independant dealer..the bike was ok apart from backfiring and crackling on throttleing off..really was a pain in the ass!Took it back and even dyno tuned but still was'nt cured..then took it to a proper dealer who said it SHOULD have been fitted with an SE Racetuner and with the Powercommander my warranty would be void, the independant did'nt want to change because of the extra cost but when the HD dealer phoned HD Sweden and told them, they sent the Racetuner to the HD dealer and they fitted it..since then no backfiring and perfect running in every way..so either the dyno tuner guy new shit about tuning the power commander on a big twin or the power commander was'nt really made for newer Harleys..in my opinion and experience and in hindsight..a Harley should use the SE Racetuner even if it is more expensive..why? Because it works and there is no warranty issues.

Then make sure all the old loctite is cleaned off all the threads and use red loctite..its just that I read that it was'nt just something that happened to just one ore two people..happened to quite a few people in that forum

New bolts are cheap to buy...would you take the risk with the old ones?? I would'nt.

Basically keep a check on the rear pully bolts..maybe mark them with white paint and check they dont move...if you ever remove it ALWAYS use new bolts...NEVER use the old ones and use Loctite!!!! I'm sorry the post was in English because this is a German forum but maybe thought you might understand. This issue is current and as most Harley's are in America...problems seem to be reported there first...so take some simple advice..when your doing your monthly wash and clean up...check your bike over..

Safe riding to all fellow Dyna riders..........................

Read this on a HD forum(which I'm a member) for Dyna models and thought you all should be warned about !!!

sprocket bolts sheared off on street bob, YIKES!!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My ridding buddy Rich is riding his 06 Street Bob and on his way back from San Francisco when the motor quit.
75 on the Freeway, bike still coasted but nothing happened when the clutch was cycled in and out.
He makes it to the side and starts checkin out the ride for issues when he notices a broken bolt laying by the rear wheel. Looks closer and finds the rear pulley completly undone from the hub, loose, like free spinning. the bolts had backed out one by one until one of them was long enough to catch on the swingarm. BANG sheared the rest of the bolts right off at the hub.
Munched the hub, tire, pulley, belt and swingarm. Oh yeah and then there is all those broken bolts.
You are probably wondering the same thing I was, how the heck did you miss noticing the bolts all backing out? He has no answer except he was not as attentive as he will be in the future. he was laughing at me a last summer because I wash my bike once a week. Nice to have it clean but one of the nice by products is I get my hands all all parts of the bike to clean them and notice any annomalies before they become a problem.
His bike is nasty dirty and you cant even see some of the bolt heads. Ick.

So this is the really entertaining part. He Purchased the extended warranty when he bought the bike. It is covered until 2010 +. Heck it just went off the factory 2 year warranty 2 months before this. Harley decides, NOT Covered. Couldn't believe it. I start making calls and finally get the warranty manager. I say "let me get this straight. Harley Bolts, Harley install and Harley wont cover it under the Harley warranty?"
No matter what I did they would not cover it. I looked at the warranty information and there it is right under exclusions, no final drive coverage.

My faith in Harley as a company is wavaring hard. I love my bike but the company is lame.
He contacted the florida dealer where he used to lived, they were the last place to change the tire, to find out if they removed the pulley to change the tire. I don't know why you would but the bolts are one time use only.
The dealer decided to pay for the neccesary repairs which are being done out here in California. Wheel, tire, pulley. Scratched up swingarm stays.
So now his bike has been in the shop for over two months because the Street bob rear wheel is on backorder.
I keep tellin my buddy. get one on eBay and I will put it on for you. He dosn't have the coin to buy one.
Passing this story along because if you have not checked your sprocket bolts lately, now is a good time. I check mine everytime I ride now.

Anyone else had this sprocket issue?
